Book Club Challenge
Ten years of staying curious longer

The
Neighbourly
Club.

The people across the street. The ones you wave at. The ones you’ve known for years. Time to get everyone together.

The best part of The Coaching Habit? Turns out it’s other people.

A note from MBS

I’m willing to bet you know your neighbours’ names. Their cars. Which house has the dog that never stops barking. You already like these people. You wave, you chat about the weather, you keep an eye on each other’s parcels. That’s a good start.

This book is just a fun reason to get everyone in one room and go a little deeper. You don’t have to meet anyone new. You’ve already got your people. This is an excuse to spend a good evening with them.

What this looks like

1

Knock on some doors

Three to six neighbours is plenty. A flyer, a group text, or an old-fashioned knock all work.

2

Read the book

It’s short. You can do it in an afternoon. The audiobook is wonderful, read by Michael, with bonus material in the anniversary edition.

3

Pick a living room or backyard

Yours, theirs, or take turns hosting.

4

Show up curious

You know these people already. Come with a real question this time, not just small talk.

How you’ll run it

One Shot

Everyone reads the book first, then 60–90 minutes together on the questions.

Three Shots

Better for going deeper. Take the extra time together to pick one or two of the Seven Essential Questions and start practicing.

Questions worth staying with

On curiosity

Who on this street do you wish you knew a little better?

On what we want

What would make this street feel more like a community to you?

No wrong answers. You might be surprised what comes up.

On the seven questions

Which of the seven questions would change a neighbourhood (conversation) most if people used it regularly?

Just for fun

What’s one thing about you that nobody on this street knows?

(The answers tend to be better than you’d expect.)

To close — Question 7

What was most useful for you tonight?

If you’re meeting more than once, end with it every time.

Once you’re done, submit for a chance to win

What was most useful for you?

That’s Question 7 and it’s the inspiration for your submission. When your group finishes, your group’s organizer submits something you found useful, from the book, the experience, the time together, whatever your group decides. Include a photo or video from your club with your submission. A screenshot of a video call counts. A picture of your text thread counts.

Winners are selected every two months. Cycle 1 closes August 19. Cycle 2 closes October 5. Cycle 3 closes December 31, 2026.
